Have you googled today?

I am so glad that search engines came into my life at a later stage. Consider the mouse-clicking generation! They are born with it!! To them, school projects are just a click away. I remember those arduous hours spent in dusty libraries, sifting through books, ruffling dog eared pages, trying to photocopy pictures from Harappa and Mohenjodaro, painstakingly drawing the UN/SAARC emblems so that the cover page of my history/civics project looked "gradable!" The mouse-clickers will never get to have all that fun of gooey glue, tacky mess, dirty papers. All that they need to do for a project is type in www.google.com and lo and behold! they have a plethora of information to choose from.

There are many instances when I think that life without search engines would be impossible... It's like living without a cell phone or e-mail or fax in today's age. Can you imagine a week without your cell phone? Now – imagine this! Surviving a week without Google when you have the most important proposal to submit?

We'd have been on a constant search mode if not for search engines! Search Engines have worked towards making the world much smaller. No adventure, no recipe, no interview, no letter writing.. nothing is complete without a "search". We are increasingly picking up a habit of doing a "search" even if we're sure about something... just to double-check, y'know! Confused about which DVD to pick up for a relaxing weekend? Or need ideas to spend a weekend? Travel? Want that cool cover of the Jethro Tull record? Have to figure the score board of the Premier League?
This year, Sarah Palin topped the list of top searches on Google globally as people sought to learn more about the US Vice Presidential Candidate from Alaska [Source: Google].
So, do you think you can get by without Googling?
